More than 900 instances of alleged violations of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) have been recorded in the run-up to the Delhi Assembly elections on February 5, an official said on Friday.
These cases were registered between January 7, when the MCC came into effect, and January 30.
During this period, authorities arrested a total of 29,172 individuals under various legal provisions, including the Excise Act, according to an official statement.
In preparation for the elections, the police have ramped up security at border checkpoints and launched operations against illegal activities, targeting the smuggling of arms, liquor, and drugs.
Delhi Police have documented 916 cases of alleged MCC violations and seized 426 illegal firearms along with 487 cartridges, leading to the arrest of 439 individuals under the Arms Act, the statement revealed.
Additionally, law enforcement has confiscated 99,285 litres of liquor and apprehended 1,194 people. They have also seized 166.993 kg of drugs valued at over Rs 75.4 crore, along with more than 1,200 banned injections, resulting in the arrest of 162 individuals.

Authorities further reported the seizure of Rs 10.10 crore in cash and 37.39 kg of silver.
Elections for the 70-member Delhi Assembly are scheduled for February 5, with vote counting set to take place on February 8.
