Delhi Police has filed an FIR against Okhla MLA Amanatullah Khan for allegedly leading an assault on a police team in Jamia Nagar, an official stated.
According to the police, Khan and his supporters aided a suspect in an attempted murder case in escaping from custody.
A senior police officer, speaking anonymously, confirmed the case and said an FIR is being registered against Khan and his supporters for obstructing public servants from performing their duties.
The incident occurred in Jamia Nagar when the Delhi Police Crime Branch tried to arrest Shabaz Khan, who is wanted in an attempted murder case. However, supporters of the AAP MLA reportedly confronted the police, allowing Shabaz to escape.
Police sources claim that Amanatullah Khan was present during the altercation, which enabled the accused to flee.
