The Centre has approved fisheries development projects worth Rs 5.33 crore for Delhi under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) since 2020-21, with a central share of Rs 2.86 crore, Parliament was informed on Tuesday.
According to a written reply by Union Fisheries Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh in the Lok Sabha, Rs 1.63 crore has been released to Delhi so far, of which Rs 1.24 crore has been utilised.
The approved projects for Delhi include 10 ornamental fish units, two recreational fisheries, eight Recirculatory Aquaculture System (RAS) units, five biofloc units, one disease diagnostic laboratory, five cycles with ice boxes, two motorcycles with ice boxes, two three-wheelers with ice boxes, and one refrigerated vehicle.
The minister said the PMMSY, launched in 2020-21, has approved fisheries and aquaculture projects worth Rs 1,032.66 crore across Union Territories with a central share of Rs 844.37 crore, aimed at boosting fish production, strengthening fisheries infrastructure, enhancing livelihoods and improving the fisheries value chain.
