Delhi government sets targets for departments, agencies for 2023-24

According to an Outcome Budget document, the Delhi government has set goals for its departments and agencies for the current fiscal year, including expanding the number of women’s clinics in mohallas and adding more classrooms to schools.

The Outcome Budget document, which lists the targets for 2023–24 as well as the ones reached in 2021–22 and 2022–23, was released by the Planning Department on Tuesday.

The budget included a breakdown of the objectives and financial resources allotted to the 22 departments and agencies’ various plans and schemes in 2023–2024.

The Delhi government has identified 248 schemes and provided a list of numerous output and outcome indicators that will be used to evaluate performance at the conclusion of the fiscal year. The Outcome Budget will then be submitted to the assembly.

According to officials, Delhi’s Outcome Budget is a comprehensive effort that links budgetary allocations with quantifiable outputs and measurable results to provide information on the effectiveness of governance and resource use. In its annual financial statement for 2017–18, the Delhi government adopted the idea of an outcome budget.

As per the document, the government plans to spend Rs. 550 crore to raise the number of classrooms in its current schools from 20,663 to 21,645 in 2022–23.

Additionally, it has set a goal of expanding the number of digital classrooms to 2,211 in order to promote digital learning.

The document also stated that by expanding the installation of CCTV cameras from 1,17,220 in 2022–2023 to 1,46,800 in the current fiscal, the monitoring of teaching and learning at government schools will be reinforced.

The government also plans to increase the number of Aam Aadmi Mohalla Clinics in 2023–2024 from 517 to 742. According to the document, it also plans to increase the number of Mohalla Clinics for women from the current five to 50 in this year.

In the transport sector, the government has targeted to raise the number of automated driving test tracks from 15 to 17.

Under the ‘City of Lakes’ project, the government has plans to raise the number of revived water bodies to 30.
