Less than half of 5,643 operational Delhi schools have internet connectivity, according to data shared by the Centre in the Lok Sabha on Monday.

The Ministry of Education said Delhi has 5,643 operational schools, of which 2,687 have smart classrooms, 2,688 have computer facilities and 2,688 have internet connectivity. The figures are based on UDISE+ 2025-26 data.

The information was provided in a written reply to an unstarred question on digital education in schools. The ministry said the Centre supports states and Union Territories under the Samagra Shiksha scheme for setting up ICT labs and smart classrooms, while digital learning initiatives such as DIKSHA and PM eVidya aim to improve access to digital education.

The reply also showed that 57,592 teachers in Delhi received training in digital pedagogy in 2020-21, followed by 20,556 in 2021-22, 4,634 in 2022-23, 1,840 in 2023-24, 38,122 in 2024-25, and 54,668 in 2025-26.
