A 32-year-old man lost his life after falling into an open drain in northeast Delhi, police said on Monday.
The incident took place in the Bhajanpura area at 6:08 am on Sunday when the victim, Harish Baisla, was on his way home.
Upon receiving information, police teams arrived at the scene. With the help of local residents, they retrieved the body from the drain and rushed it to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared Harish dead on arrival, according to a senior police officer.
“Harish was married and is survived by his wife and one child. We have initiated further investigations,” the officer added.

Sources revealed that Harish had been out with friends to celebrate a friend’s birthday. While heading home in the early hours, he reportedly failed to notice the open drain.
“His father is also employed with the Delhi Police,” said a source.
Harish worked as a private operator at Khajuri Khas Police Station for the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), the sources added. (With inputs from PTI)
