A 24-year-old man was found dead in a charred condition inside his car near the Ghazipur area of east Delhi, police said.
The victim, identified as Anil, was believed to have been returning to his home in Nawada village, Noida, after distributing wedding invitations for his marriage scheduled on February 14, police said.
Authorities received three PCR calls reporting a fire incident near the Ghazipur area at 11:03 pm, 11:07 pm, and 11:13 pm on Saturday. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a Maruti Wagon R engulfed in flames, with Anil’s burnt body inside.
“When our team reached the location, the car was on fire, and the deceased was identified as Anil,” a senior police officer stated.
Crime and forensic science teams were immediately dispatched to the site to gather evidence. Anil’s body was transported to Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) Hospital for further examination.
Later, Anil’s elder brother made two calls to the police, alleging that his brother’s death was the result of a conspiracy. Sumit, the brother, revealed that Anil had left home on Saturday afternoon to distribute wedding invitations but did not return. When the family tried to contact him, his phone was switched off. Around 11:30 pm, the family was informed about his death by the police.

The family further suggested that Anil’s death could be linked to a conflict involving the family of a woman he was romantically involved with. Police confirmed that Anil had been in a relationship with a distant relative, but her father disapproved. On the night of the incident, the woman’s wedding was being held at a nearby banquet hall, and Anil reportedly attended the event.
“Family members are alleging that a conspiracy is involved in his death,” the officer said.
Additionally, police revealed that before the incident, the woman’s father made three PCR calls about a quarrel involving Anil’s relatives. Eyewitnesses reported that people attempted to break the car’s windows to rescue Anil, but he was already dead. The fire appeared to have been concentrated on the driver’s side of the vehicle.
Anil’s body was handed over to his family after the postmortem examination. “We are continuing the investigation under Section 194 (concerning suicide) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita,” the officer added.
