After a dispute over parking near Delhi’s Saket Metro station, a man was killed, according to police, after being allegedly struck with stones and bricks by a group of men.

They added that one of the accused has been apprehended and that the deceased was identified as Rohit.

On July 16, a PCR call was made regarding a person who was lying injured near the Saket Metro station, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Benita Mary Jaiker.

When police arrived on the scene, they discovered that the injured had been sent to Safdarjung hospital. The senior officer added that later in the day, the hospital notified the police that the patient had passed away.

Rohit along with his three friends — Rahul Yadav, Ashu Yadav and Amit Jain — were in a car and wanted to park the vehicle near the metro station. However, five-six boys were standing at the place where they wanted to park the car, police said.

The senior officer claimed that this sparked a dispute between the two parties that quickly turned physical, with people present at the metro station hitting Rohit with rocks and stones.

According to the officer, a case was filed under sections 302 (Murder), 308 (Attempt to commit culpable homicide), and 34 (Common Intention) of the Indian Penal Code based on Rahul’s confession and Rohit’s Medico Legal Case (MLC).

Priyanshu, a 22-year-old resident of Saidulajab, was one of the accused who was apprehended thanks to the police’s formation of several teams and examination of footage from numerous CCTV cameras, the officer continued.

When questioned, the accused admitted that he and his five companions were standing outside gate A of the Saket metro station when four individuals, including Rohit, arrived in a car for a space to park, according to the DCP.

The policeman stated that the quarrel took place over the horn blown by the owner of the car. This led to Rohit being hit by bricks and stones by the accused who later fled the spot.
