Delhi: A major fire erupted in a three-story building in East of Kailash on Thursday morning, according to officials familiar with the situation.
As per a senior official of the Delhi Fire Service, they received a call about the fire on the second and third floors at around 5:50 am following which eight fire tenders were dispatched for the spot with any further delay.
“Firefighters rescued a woman from the third floor, while other residents managed to evacuate the building shortly after the fire started. As the firefighting efforts continued, thick smoke poured out of the building. The blaze was brought under control within two hours”, a senior fire official stated.

A senior police officer confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.
Informing about the reason behind the fire, a senior police official said, “The initial investigation suggests that a short circuit in an air conditioner on the second floor may have caused the fire. An investigation is ongoing.”
The building houses three brothers and their families.

Meanwhile, on June 30, a major fire erupted at an electronic goods store in the Shahbad Dairy area of northwest Delhi. The fire started around 4:18 am, according to fire services officials.
“It took three fire tenders two hours to completely douse the flames,” a Delhi Fire Services official reported.
In another incident, a fire broke out at a garments factory in East Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar area on the morning of June 18. According to officials, no casualties have been reported.
The Delhi Fire Service was alerted at 9:55 am, and five fire tenders were dispatched to extinguish the blaze at the two-story factory, a DFS official stated.
