Delhi: Light rain in parts of national capital brings some respite from sultry weather

The weather department said that moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, with wind speeds of 40 to 60 kmph, and lightning, is likely to occur across Delhi and the NCR

Cloud cover blanketed Delhi today as parts of the city received rainfall, offering relief from recent high humidity.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported at 3 pm that moderate to heavy showers, accompanied by thunderstorms and wind speeds of 40 to 60 kmph, along with lightning, are expected across Delhi and the NCR.

“As of now, there is no heavy rain warning for Delhi,” stated an IMD official.

The IMD explained that despite their forecast models and measurements, heavy rainfall did not materialise in national capitallast time due to the shifting of the rainfall belt.

The minimum temperature in the city was recorded at 29 degrees Celsius, slightly above normal. The sky is expected to remain cloudy throughout the day, with the maximum temperature likely to reach around 35 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels were at 75 per cent at 8:30 am. (With inputs from PTI)
