Out of the 17,94,403 buildings surveyed in the national capital, four were declared dangerous by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Thursday.

As per the data accessed by the Patriot, the MCD has completed the survey of 64.7% of the total number of buildings – 27,66,198. Out of the surveyed buildings, two of the properties were earmarked in East Delhi’s Kalyanpuri, which were subsequently demolished.

The survey had been conducted till June 14. According to the MCD, the property owners were served notices to carry out the necessary repairs in the national capital.

Previously, in 2023, 57 buildings were declared unsafe by the MCD out of its 12 zones. Out of the 57, the maintenance department had earmarked 41 while the building department had identified the remaining 16.

The Leader of the Opposition, Raja Iqbal Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claimed that the survey was farcical and “suspicious”.

He said, “The process of surveying houses and marking dangerous houses by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi is ridiculous and suspicious, out of 17.94 lakh houses surveyed in the whole of Delhi, only four houses coming in the dangerous category is a matter of concern.”

He added that the survey questions the authenticity of the MCD’s reports.

Singh termed the survey “fraudulent”. He said, “The survey done so far has been done in a fraudulent manner and it has been prepared in collusion with the MCD and the Aam Aadmi Party.”
