In a move aimed at making metro travel more inclusive, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), in collaboration with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), has rolled out a ‘Priority Frisking’ facility across all metro stations.
The new system is designed to streamline the security screening process for passengers who may find standard frisking procedures challenging. This includes persons with disabilities (divyangjans), pregnant women, elderly passengers, women travelling with infants, and those with visible injuries.
“The initiative has been launched to make travel more comfortable and accessible for passengers who may face difficulty during regular frisking,” said a DMRC spokesperson.
To maintain the integrity of the process, CISF personnel have been instructed to verify eligibility with discretion. In cases where eligibility is unclear, passengers may be asked to produce a relevant document. “CISF personnel have been advised to use sensitivity and sound judgment while verifying such cases,” a senior CISF official said.
DMRC and CISF are coordinating closely to ensure the smooth implementation of the facility. Field staff are being briefed thoroughly to maintain consistency and minimise delays or confusion.
“We are ensuring that all security staff are aware of the process so eligible passengers can benefit from it without inconvenience,” said a DMRC official.

Framed as a step towards greater inclusivity, the initiative aligns with DMRC’s broader commitment to social responsibility. “Our goal is to make the metro system user-friendly and accessible for everyone,” the DMRC added.
