Delhi: Min temperature below 20 deg C for fourth day; air quality ‘moderate’

The air quality in Delhi was recorded in the poor category on Tuesday morning, with an AQI reading of 201.

The minimum temperature settled at 19 degrees Celsius, 0.6 notches below normal, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The maximum temperature is likely to settle around 33 degrees Celsius, with the weather department forecasting a mainly clear sky.

The relative humidity was 85 per cent at 8.30 am, the IMD said.

Meanwhile on Monday, the national capital recorded a maximum temperature of 32.6 degrees Celsius, three notches below the average.

The IMD recorded the minimum temperature at 19 degrees Celsius, 0.6 notches below the season’s average.

Monday was the fourth consecutive day when the minimum temperature was recorded below 20 degrees for the 2025-26 winter season.

The relative humidity oscillated between 86 per cent and 49 per cent on Monday.

With the winter chill beginning to set in, Delhi is witnessing a gradual rise in air pollution levels.

The 24-hour average Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 189 at 4 pm, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), placing it in the “moderate” category.

According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered “good”, 51 to 100 “satisfactory”, 101 to 200 “moderate”, 201 to 300 “poor”, 301 to 400 “very poor” and 401 to 500 “severe.”
