As the Delhi Assembly elections approach, the Delhi Police have launched two AI-powered chatbots, ‘Chunav Mitra’ and ‘Cyber Sarthi,’ to assist their personnel and paramilitary forces with election-related responsibilities, an officer announced. These bilingual chatbots, designed to operate in both Hindi and English, are aimed at ensuring the efficient management of the electoral process, the officer added.

The advanced features of these AI-driven chatbots promise to enhance communication and coordination during the upcoming polls. According to the officer, these applications will facilitate the timely distribution of critical instructions and directives issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the Delhi Police.

‘Chunav Mitra,’ one of the newly introduced tools, focuses on providing real-time access to crucial rules, directives, and field instructions. It serves as a ready reference for officers engaged in election duties, ensuring they have the necessary information at their fingertips. Meanwhile, ‘Cyber Sarthi’ is designed with a focus on cybersecurity. It offers detailed guidelines to help officers safely use digital tools and platforms, thereby safeguarding sensitive election-related data.

“Both chatbots are equipped with a comprehensive database of election-related information, making them invaluable tools for officers on the ground. They can be accessed through a dedicated link or by scanning a QR code, providing easy and secure access,” said Special Commissioner of Police (Crime) Devesh Chandra Srivastva. He emphasized that the chatbots’ user-friendly design simplifies complex information, making it accessible and actionable for personnel at all levels.

According to the Special CP, these innovations are expected to play a vital role in ensuring smooth and effective operations during the election period.

By integrating advanced AI technology, the Delhi Police have taken a significant step toward modernising election management and ensuring enhanced cybersecurity for a seamless electoral process.
