Delhi Rains: Heavy rain lashed parts of Delhi-NCR on Tuesday, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, leading to waterlogging in several areas around the capital. The IMD’s forecast indicates chances of very light to light rain on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The weather office, in its latest bulletin, predicted further rainfall in areas such as Narela, Bawana, Alipur, Mundka, Paschim Vihar, Punjabi Bagh, Najafgarh, Dwarka, Akshardham, Vasant Vihar, Mehrauli, Chhatarpur and Aya Nagar, among others, during the next two hours.

The heavy rainfall caused waterlogging in Laxmi Nagar, Central Secretariat, Delhi Cantonment, Palam, Safdarjung, Parliament Street, Dilshad Garden, ITO and Greater Kailash, among other parts of the national capital, leading to traffic jams.

According to IMD data from June 1 to July 8, Delhi has recorded an average rainfall of 116.3mm, higher than the normal 98.9mm.

For the second day in a row, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded in the ‘satisfactory’ category, with a reading of 56 at 6 PM on Monday, as per Central Pollution Control Board data. This improvement in air quality can be attributed to the recent rain and wind.
