Delhi records 199 dengue cases, 55 malaria infections so far

Delhi has reported 199 dengue cases, 55 malaria cases and 13 chikungunya cases so far this year, according to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s latest vector-borne disease weekly report, with no deaths recorded from any of the three diseases.

The report showed dengue continued to account for the highest number of vector-borne disease cases in the city this year, with nine fresh cases reported in the week ending July 11.

Malaria recorded three new cases during the week, while one fresh chikungunya case was detected.

The cumulative dengue tally stood at 199, compared with 246 cases reported during the corresponding period last year. Malaria cases stood at 55 against 101 during the same period in 2025, while chikungunya cases increased to 13 from seven a year ago.

This year’s figures are for the week ending July 11.

Among the 12 MCD zones, the West Zone reported the highest number of dengue cases this year, at 34, followed by the Central Zone with 26 and the Civil Lines with 20. The West Zone also recorded the highest number of malaria cases at 16, while the South Zone reported eight cases and Central Zone seven.

According to officials, the MCD has not yet released a report for the last week on vector-borne diseases.

The report said 182 of the 199 dengue cases, 52 of the 55 malaria cases and 12 of the 13 chikungunya cases were reported from areas under the MCD. The remaining cases were reported from the NDMC area, Delhi Cantonment and the Railways.

In over 1.99 crore house visits as part of the civic body’s anti-vector disease, mosquito breeding was found in in 52,636 houses.

The MCD has issued 47,506 legal notices on the matter till July 11. It also launched 5,555 prosecutions and collected nearly Rs 3.96 lakh through 1,777 spot fines during the period.
