
Delhi experienced its warmest April night in three years on Sunday, with the minimum temperature settling at 26 degrees Celcius — 4.4 degrees Celcius above the seasonal average. The last time the city witnessed a comparable minimum temperature was in 2022, when it reached 26.2 degrees Celcius.
The maximum temperature on Sunday rose to 39.8 degrees Celcius, exceeding the norm by three degrees. Humidity levels fluctuated between 63% and 38% over the course of the day.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Monday is expected to bring partly cloudy skies, with temperatures forecast to hover around 40°C during the day and 25°C at night.
Air quality remained in the ‘moderate’ category as of 4 p.m. on Sunday, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 140, as per data from the Central Pollution Control Board. An AQI reading between 101 and 200 is classified as ‘moderate’, while lower values indicate better air quality and higher values point to worsening conditions.
On Saturday, Delhi recorded a high of 39.5 degrees Celcius — 2.5 degrees Celcius above the average for this time of year. The minimum temperature stood at 25.8 degrees Celcius, 4.2 degrees Celcius above normal, with humidity ranging between 60 per cent and 43 per cent, the IMD reported.

Friday offered brief respite from the heat, as light rain and gusty winds swept through parts of the city. Observatories in Narela, Pitampura, and Mayur Vihar each recorded 0.5 mm of rainfall.
“A new cloud system has moved into Delhi, bringing very light to light rainfall accompanied by gusty winds with speeds of 30–40 km/h. This weather pattern is expected to pass over the city with similar intensity,” the IMD said.
