Delhi woke up to cloudy skies on Friday, with the minimum temperature settling at 28.1 degrees Celsius as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for moderate rain and thunderstorms through the day.
The maximum temperature is expected to settle at 32 degrees Celsius.
Station-wise data showed that Palam logged 25.9 degrees Celsius, 1.9 notches below normal; Lodhi Road recorded 28.0 degrees Celsius, 1.0 notch above normal; Ridge logged 24.6 degrees Celsius, 0.9 notch below normal; while Ayanagar recorded 25.8 degrees Celsius, 1.0 notch below normal.
The IMD has forecast a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain for the day.
Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph are likely during the forenoon, afternoon, evening and night, along with light to moderate rainfall.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 89 at 9 am in the ‘satisfactory’ category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51-100 ‘satisfactory’, 101-200 ‘moderate’, 201-300 ‘poor’, 301-400 ‘very poor’, and 401-500 ‘severe.’
