New Delhi experienced a cool morning on Saturday, with the minimum temperature recorded at 12.5 degrees Celsius, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Residents of the national capital woke up to a partly cloudy sky, providing slight relief from the February sun.
The IMD has predicted that the maximum temperature for the day is expected to reach around 27 degrees Celsius. With winter gradually transitioning into spring, the city has been witnessing fluctuating temperatures, with cooler mornings followed by warmer afternoons.
Humidity levels remained high in the early hours of the day. At 8:30 AM, the humidity was recorded at 93 per cent, which contributed to a slight chill in the air. However, as the day progresses, the humidity is likely to drop, making the weather more comfortable for Delhiites.
Apart from temperature fluctuations, air quality continues to be a major concern for the city. At 9 AM, the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 177, placing it in the “moderate” category, as per data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). While this level is not considered hazardous, it still poses potential risks for individuals with respiratory conditions.

For reference, the AQI scale categorises air quality as follows: 0-50 is considered “good,” 51-100 “satisfactory,” 101-200 “moderate,” 201-300 “poor,” 301-400 “very poor,” and 401-500 “severe.” Delhi, which often struggles with poor air quality, saw some respite from hazardous pollution levels in recent weeks, likely due to improved weather conditions and wind patterns dispersing pollutants.
