The Directorate of Education (DoE) has announced that remedial classes will be held for students of Classes IX, X, and XII across all government schools in Delhi during the summer vacation.

According to a circular issued by the DoE, regular school activities will be suspended from May 11 to June 30 for the summer break. However, remedial classes will run from May 13 to May 31, aiming to strengthen students’ foundational concepts and improve academic performance.

The sessions will be held in the morning hours—from 7:30 AM to 10:30 AM—and structured into three one-hour periods. In schools that operate in double shifts, classes will be organised in separate wings to ensure smooth conduct for all students.

For Classes IX and X, Science and Mathematics will be taught daily, with an optional third subject based on academic needs identified by the school head. School uniforms will be mandatory, and student attendance will be tracked online. Participation also requires prior parental consent.

Teachers have been instructed to provide focused, individual attention during the sessions. In addition, library facilities will remain open for self-study and book lending.

To ensure smooth functioning, guest and contractual teachers may be appointed if regular faculty are unavailable. While summer leave for staff is generally restricted, exceptions can be granted with prior approval.

District and zonal education officers have been directed to visit at least two schools each day to monitor the effective implementation of the programme.
