The Delhi government is set to inaugurate 34 new Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs across the city by next week, taking the total number of these primary healthcare centres to 67, officials said on Tuesday.
Currently, 33 Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs are operational in the capital, offering affordable and accessible primary healthcare. The upcoming batch of centres marks the second phase of the citywide rollout.
“We will inaugurate 34 more Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs this week. In the third phase, the total will go up to 80,” Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Singh told PTI. He added that the initiative is part of the government’s broader push to strengthen the public healthcare system and improve services for residents.
Positioned as a corrective measure to bridge longstanding healthcare gaps, Singh said, “These are not just buildings. They are centres of primary care and prevention — areas that were lacking in the previous government’s approach.”
According to officials, the new centres will be distributed across several districts: five in central Delhi, four in east Delhi, with others spread across north east, north west, south east, and west Delhi. Many of these facilities are being established by upgrading existing mohalla clinics, dispensaries, and polyclinics.

Last month, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and her Cabinet had inaugurated 33 Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs and 17 Jan Aushadhi Kendras across Delhi. The government has set a long-term goal of establishing over 1,100 such clinics across the capital.
The Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs are part of the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat initiative. Following the BJP’s recent electoral victory in Delhi, the state government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Centre earlier this month to implement the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in the capital—fulfilling a key poll promise.
Additionally, the Delhi government has proposed an allocation of Rs 320 crore for the expansion of Health and Wellness Centres and Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs, with plans to establish 400 new centres aimed at strengthening primary healthcare services.
