The Delhi Traffic Police has intensified enforcement against the use of fake and forged No-Entry Permits (NEPs) by commercial vehicles, registering FIRs in two cases and investigating rackets involved in issuing such permits, an official said on Wednesday.

“Alert traffic personnel intercepted vehicles operating with fake permissions allegedly obtained through unauthorised agents. Following the detection, FIRs were registered at Gokulpuri and Wazirabad police stations,” Additional Commissioner of Police (traffic) Vijayanta Goyal Arya said.

According to a statement, two instances of forged NEPs were detected over the past fortnight in the Eastern and Central traffic ranges.

Authorities have also seized the vehicles involved and launched investigations to identify networks engaged in the preparation and distribution of counterfeit permits and stickers, Arya said.

The traffic police clarified that NEPs are issued for vehicles transporting essential and perishable commodities such as milk, fruits, vegetables, food grains, meat and medical supplies, as well as those engaged in fuel distribution and public utility services, including DDA, PWD, DMRC, electricity and telecom operations, Arya said.

He said that there are three categories of NEPs — annual, temporary and short-term — subject to specific conditions related to vehicle type, fuel norms, routes and timings. Annual and temporary passes are issued only through the official online portal, while short-term passes are issued offline by the concerned traffic range DCPs.

The police reiterated that the use or possession of fake NEPs is a serious offence and may lead to criminal action, seizure of vehicles and blacklisting of offenders.
