
On Wednesday morning, Delhi experienced dense fog with a recorded minimum temperature of 7.3 degrees Celsius, Met office said.
The Indian Railways reported delays of one to six hours for twenty-six Delhi-bound trains due to the prevailing foggy conditions.
There was a slight improvement in visibility across various areas of the national capital. At 8:30 am, Safdarjung, the primary weather station in Delhi, registered a visibility of 200 meters, officials confirmed.
Humidity levels were recorded at 89 per cent at 8:30 am.
Simultaneously, the Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 328 at 9 am, falling under the “very poor” category, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board.
The AQI scale categorizes ratings from zero to 500 as follows: “good” (0-50), “satisfactory” (51-100), “moderate” (101-200), “poor” (201-300), “very poor” (301-400), and “severe” (401-500).
The India Meteorological Department highlighted that December 2023 marked the national capital’s warmest month in six years. Notably, there wasn’t a single ‘cold wave day’ recorded in the city throughout the month, according to the department’s findings. (With inputs from PTI)
