Delhi’s minimum temperature at 8.3 degrees, air quality remains very poor

The minimum temperature slightly exceeded the normal mark, settling at 8.3 degrees Celsius on a brisk morning in Delhi, said MeT office on Tuesday.

The India Meteorological Department indicated dense to moderate fog in isolated pockets of Delhi.

Reportedly, 26 Delhi-bound trains faced delays ranging from one to six hours due to the fog, as per the Indian Railways.

At 8:30 am, the humidity in the national capital stood at 84 percent.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) registered a ‘very poor’ category, recording a reading of 346 at 6:30 am, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board.

The AQI scale categorizes readings between zero and 50 as ‘good’, 51 to 100 as ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 as ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 as ‘poor’, 301 to 400 as ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 as ‘severe’.

December 2023 marked the national capital’s warmest month in six years, with not a single ‘coldwave day’ recorded throughout the period. (With inputs from PTI)
