A 20-year-old domestic worker was discovered hanging at her employer’s residence in south Delhi’s Greater Kailash area, police said.
No suicide note was found, and there are no indications of foul play in the preliminary investigation, they said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Ankit Chauhan stated that authorities received a call at 8:27 am regarding the suspected suicide.
“On arrival, the body of a domestic worker, a native of Odisha, was found hanging from a nylon rope attached to the ceiling fan,” Chauhan said.
During the inquiry, the deceased’s brother and sister, who reside in Delhi, confirmed she had been working as a domestic helper in the Greater Kailash residence for some time, Chauhan mentioned.
Their statements were recorded, and the deceased’s body was transferred to AIIMS for postmortem examination, he added.
The police indicated that, based on initial observations and the postmortem report, no foul play is suspected.
Inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code are underway. The statements of relatives and the results of forensic examination will be considered, they further added. (With inputs from PTI)
