Triveni Gallery is set to host “Here Comes The Sun”, a solo exhibition featuring the recent artworks of Gurgaon-based artist Sangeeta Singh, who has been awarded Senior and Junior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. The exhibition is scheduled to take place from April 14 to April 22, 2024, and will be inaugurated by Prayag Shukla, Poet, Art Critic, and Curator.
The Exhibition will feature approximately twenty-five paintings and three sculptures. Sangeeta Singh is known for her blend of emotions and creativity. With numerous exhibitions to her credit, Sangeeta continues to showcase her artworks.
Her recent creations serve as expressions of her evolving emotional journey, primarily stemming from the year 2023. Before this period, there was a substantial hiatus, a deliberate pause, lasting for a year and a half.
During this sabbatical, she delved into the intricate labyrinth of her inner emotions, allowing them to flow freely without the constraints of external creation.
However, this introspective respite proved to be a pivotal phase, where transformation took place. It incubated the formation of a diverse collection of work. This fresh direction in her artistic practice gave her a new approach to work. The allure of colours and textures became apparent during this time, drawing her into a gradual shift towards layering her creations and employing a method of gentle scratching to uncover the concealed undertones.
“The journey was marked by delightful surprises as I navigated this uncharted path, bringing with them waves of joy and, at times, overwhelming emotions,” says Sangeeta Singh. “These revelations were the threads that wove the intricate tapestry of my innermost self”.
“The concept of letting go became a central theme, prompting me to release forms that I had meticulously crafted but were no longer aligned with my evolving vision and emotional state,” she added.
“These creations are the landscapes of my travel diaries. It allowed me to blend my personal experiences, memories, and artistic expression into a visual narrative, infusing my works with a sense of personal connection and authenticity. The teapots in my works are metaphors of living spaces such as a house, an abode, or even a city that share boundaries with one another. The story behind the teacups is all about the warmth, bonding, love, and togetherness that we share,” she further added.
