Electrical meters catch fire in south Delhi building, no casualty

A fire broke out in a residential building in Munirka area of south Delhi on Friday after several electrical meters caught fire, officials said. No injuries were reported in the incident.

According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), a call was received at 10.32 AM reporting a blaze involving eight electricity meters. A fire tender was immediately rushed to the spot and the flames were brought under control within 10 minutes.

“The fire was quickly extinguished and no one was injured,” a DFS official said, adding that the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

In a separate incident, a fire also erupted at an e-rickshaw charging station in the Bindapur area of Delhi later in the day. The fire department received a call at around 10.57 AM and dispatched two fire tenders to the location.

“The fire was brought under control in a short time, preventing it from spreading to nearby areas,” the official said.

No casualties were reported in the incident, and the exact cause of the fire is under investigation, he added.
