A massive fire broke out at a car showroom in south Delhi’s Saidulajab area on Friday, gutting several vehicles, while rescue operations were underway as some people were suspected to be trapped inside the building, a Delhi Fire Services official said.

The official also said that they have rescued two people from the showroom so far.

The DFS received a call about the blaze at a Kia car showroom at 3.47 pm and rushed 10 fire tenders to the spot. Several teams of Delhi Police and the fire department were deployed to control the blaze. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

Thick plumes of black smoke could be seen billowing from the car showroom, rising high into the sky and visible from a considerable distance.

The smoke engulfed the surrounding area as the fire intensified. Several cars parked inside the showroom were seen completely engulfed in flames, with fire spreading across the premises.

The visuals showed multiple vehicles burning simultaneously, with thick smoke pouring out of the building.

Several people crossing the road also stopped to witness and record the incident on their mobile phones. A jam-like situation was witnessed on the road near the showroom.

As the crowd continued to gather, police teams at the spot were dispersing onlookers, ensuring the movement of fire tenders and firefighting operations.
