Four Delhi hospitals received bomb threats via email on Tuesday, just two days after similar threats targeted 20 hospitals, the airport, and the Northern Railways’ CPRO office in the capital, officials said. No suspicious items have been found so far.
Delhi Fire Service officials said they had received calls of bomb threat emails from GTB Hospital, Dada Dev Hospital, Hedgewar Hospital, and Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital in various parts of the city.
The bomb disposal squad, bomb detection team, fire department, and local police were dispatched to conduct thorough searches, officials said.
According to a DFS official, the calls began at 10:45 a.m.
The first alert came from Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital in north Delhi’s Ashok Vihar at 9:45 a.m. The second alert was received at 10:55 a.m. from Dada Dev Hospital in Dabri, southwest Delhi, followed by Hedgewar Hospital in east Delhi’s Farsh Bazar at 11:01 a.m., and GTB Hospital in Shahdara, also in east Delhi, at 11:12 a.m.
“Police and the bomb disposal squad are conducting checks. We have also conducted checks twice. Nothing suspicious has been found so far,” said V. K. Sharma, security officer at Hedgewar Hospital. A doctor at Hedgewar Hospital received the email threat, he added.
This marks the fourth time in the past month that various locations, including schools, have received bomb threats. Prior to Sunday’s threats to the airport and 20 hospitals, Chacha Nehru Hospital received a bomb threat on April 30. On May 1, about 150 schools received email threats from a Russian-based mailing service. (With inputs from PTI)
