Kejriwal promises to redevelop all MCD schools in 5 to 7 years

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced on Monday that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government has successfully narrowed the gap between the rich and the poor in Delhi’s education system by making significant improvements to government schools.

Kejriwal made these remarks while inaugurating the Sarvodaya Co-ed school in Libaspur village. He highlighted that the school’s classrooms, laboratories, library, and halls are superior to those found in private schools across Delhi.

Kejriwal emphasized the tremendous improvement in government schools, which were previously in a deplorable condition, with classes conducted in tents, broken ceilings, lack of toilets, and inadequate drinking water facilities. He acknowledged that disadvantaged families had no choice but to send their children to such schools. However, he asserted that the AAP government had successfully bridged the education gap between the rich and the poor.

The Chief Minister further stated that the AAP government’s focus is on revamping the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) schools. He outlined their plans to redevelop all MCD schools within the next five to seven years. Kejriwal also highlighted the government’s commitment to addressing the issue of unemployment by prioritizing the creation of job opportunities for the youth.

At the inauguration event, Education Minister Atishi praised the facilities at the newly inaugurated Libaspur school, stating that it surpasses not only private schools in Delhi but also private schools across the entire country. She accused the previous administrations of mismanaging Delhi government schools and emphasized that underprivileged families were compelled to send their children to poorly equipped schools.

Atishi highlighted the AAP government’s consistent allocation of the highest amount of funds to the Education Department in the annual budget. She affirmed that the government’s unwavering commitment to education is reflected in its budgetary priorities. Furthermore, Atishi proudly noted that Delhi’s government schools are currently outperforming private schools, with numerous students from government schools successfully clearing competitive exams like the IIT-JEE.
