Delhi residents experienced a breath of relief on Monday as the city’s air quality showed a slight improvement, moving into the moderate category.
According to official reports from the weather office, the minimum temperature was recorded at 21.1 degrees Celsius, which was slightly above the season’s average, providing a mild respite from the recent chill.
The IMD has predicted generally cloudy skies with the possibility of light rain showers. The maximum temperature was anticipated to settle at 32 degrees Celsius, adding a touch of warmth amid the cloudy weather.
At 8:30 am, the relative humidity stood at 67 percent, indicating a relatively humid morning in the city.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) at 9 am was measured at 195, falling within the moderate range (101-200) on the AQI scale. The air quality index (AQI) in the national Capital on Sunday was recorded at 233, which is considered ‘poor’.
According to the Centre’s Commission for Air Quality Management, the number of “good to moderate” air quality days during the corresponding period in 2022, 2021 and 2019 stood at 154, 183 and 174 respectively.
As per the AQI categorization, An AQI between zero and 50 is considered “good”, 51 and 100 “satisfactory”, 101 and 200 “moderate”, 201 and 300 “poor”, 301 and 400 “very poor”, and 401 and 500 “severe”. (With inputs from PTI)
