The Delhi Police apprehended a 25-year-old man after discovering eight firearms and 45 cartridges in his possession in the Welcome area, officials revealed on Monday.
The individual in custody has been identified as Saif Siddiqui, a resident of the Seelampur area, according to sources.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirkey said, “On March 9, we received intel suggesting Siddiqui’s involvement in the distribution of firearms across various parts of Delhi”.
A specialised team was assembled to apprehend the suspect and dispatched to the Welcome area.
“The team successfully located Siddiqui and confiscated four semi-automatic pistols, one revolver, and three locally manufactured pistols from his possession. Upon interrogation, he confessed to acquiring these weapons from Hapur, Aligarh, and Bulandshahar,” the DCP elaborated.
