A 55-year-old man and his son were fatally stabbed by five individuals allegedly residing in their neighborhood in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area due to an ongoing personal feud, police said.
The tragic event occurred in a narrow lane of Chirag Dilli on Sunday night. The deceased have been identified as Jai Bhagwan and his 22-year-old son Saurabh.
A purported video clip of the assault surfaced on social media, depicting the victims being attacked with knives.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (south) Ankit Chauhan said that Bhagwan had been involved in multiple criminal cases, including a murder case registered in the Malviya Nagar area.
Bhagwan and his son were involved in a cable business in the area, according to the DCP.
Police have apprehended four of the accused and are currently interrogating them to determine the precise motive behind the killings.
According to another officer, the two victims had a previous altercation with their neighbours during a birthday party a month ago. At that time, local residents intervened to resolve the conflict between both families.
“The dispute resurfaced on Sunday, resulting in the duo being attacked with knives and a chopper,” the officer said.
The incident unfolded in full view of the public, as per police reports. (With inputs from PTI)
