Man escapes after breaking lockup bars in Delhi

A man arrested by the Rajouri Garden police in an alleged theft case managed to escape from custody by breaking the iron bars of the lockup, an officer said.

Later, Deepak RDX was recaptured in the same area, authorities confirmed on Friday.

RDX had been apprehended last week in connection with a theft case and was held in a temporary lockup at the Special Staff Office near Rajouri Garden Police Station.

Upon discovering his absence, the staff promptly notified their superiors, an officer mentioned. Deepak was apprehended by the team from the same area the following day.

Police stated that a case under section 224 (resistance or obstruction by a person to his lawful apprehension) of the IPC has been filed against him at Rajouri Garden Police Station. (With inputs from PTI)
