Pradipto Sengupta’s Music Academy is getting ready to have the Mandolin Wonders Orchestra perform at a big music event called “A Gala Musical Evening” on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at 6:30 PM. It’s happening at Stein Auditorium, India Habitat Centre, on Lodhi Road, New Delhi.
This event will feature a unique mandolin orchestra comprising 14 talented musicians, culminating in a solo performance by the Mandolin Maestro himself, Pradipto Sengupta. Sengupta, brimming with confidence, expressed, “I am sure you will enjoy and be mesmerised by the enchanting soundscapes these mandolins will weave.”
The program unfolds with a brief discourse on the awareness of colorectal cancer titled “Are You at Risk?”, followed by an insightful exploration of the evolution of the mandolin. The Mandolin Wonders Orchestra, comprising 14 dedicated disciples of Shri Pradipto Sengupta, will grace the stage with their harmonious melodies, leading into a captivating solo performance by the Maestro himself.

Sengupta’s musical odyssey commenced in Kolkata before finding its epicenter in Mumbai. Since his inaugural recording with R.D. Burman for the film “Jeene Do” in January 1989, he has charted a path strewn with milestones, collaborating with luminaries such as Laxmikant Pyarelal, Ravindra Jain, and many more.
Noteworthy contributions to the Mumbai film industry include iconic compositions like “Mehendi Lagake Rakhna” and “Tumse Milke Aaisa Laga“. His latest triumph, “Mere Rashke Qamar” from the movie “Baadshaho”, stands as a testament to his enduring prowess.
The Mandolin Wonders Orchestra embodies a collective passion for creating sonic marvels under the tutelage of Guruji, the venerable Mandolin Maestro, Pradipto Sengupta. Comprising individuals spanning ages 17 to 80, hailing from diverse locales including Nagpur, Gujarat, and even abroad in Australia and the US, this eclectic ensemble boasts members from various walks of life, including three esteemed doctors.
