The public works department will revamp and improve nine roads in Pitampura and 12 in sectors 3, 5, 6 and 7 of Rohini as part of the projects.
These roads have deteriorated in various locations, and the quality of the surface has declined, as a result of increased traffic and completion of more than their useful lifetime period. After taking note of the state of the roadways, Sisodia said PWD personnel have been instructed to start immediately strengthening the roads in Pitampura and Rohini.
The Arvind Kejriwal-led administration is committed to giving everyone in Delhi a safe and enjoyable commute, said Sisodia, who is also the PWD minister.
For this reason, he said, PWD regularly commissions professional evaluations of the national capital’s roads and launches measures to fortify them.
In order to ensure that the general public is not inconvenienced during construction, Sisodia instructed the officials to hasten the work on road strengthening projects.
Under this project, along with strengthening of roads, the PWD will also have to ensure maintenance and upkeep of pavements, central verges and service lanes of the entire road stretch, including other allied works such as lane marking, white washing of parapet walls/railing, among others.
The said project will not only provide a better commuting experience but will also enhance inter-connectivity in the area and save time, officials stated.
