A Delhi court on Monday extended the judicial custody of AAP leader and former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia in connection with a corruption case linked to the alleged excise policy scam.

Special Judge for CBI and ED Kaveri Baweja extended Manish Sisodia’s custody until July 22, following his appearance via video conference after the expiration of his judicial custody.

On April 30, the court had denied bail to Sisodia in the corruption and money laundering cases filed by the CBI and ED related to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam.

The court had previously reserved its decision after hearing arguments from both the CBI and ED, as well as Manish Sisodia‘s counsel.

Sisodia, a leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was arrested by the CBI on February 26, 2023, and subsequently by the ED on March 9, 2023. He resigned from the Delhi cabinet on February 28, 2023.

The Delhi government implemented the excise policy on November 17, 2021, but terminated it by the end of September 2022 amidst corruption allegations. (With inputs from PTI)
