13-year-old boy died while an elderly woman suffered burn injuries after a fire broke out in a house in west Delhi’s Vishnu Garden early Wednesday morning, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Jaspreet, while the injured is Swamjeet Kaur (65), who sustained nearly 35 per cent burn injuries and is undergoing treatment, they said.
According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), information regarding the blaze at a house in the Khayala area was received around 2.45 am.
A total of four fire tenders were pressed into service. The fire was doused by 4.10 am, the DFS said.
The fire erupted in an electric scooter and household articles kept on the ground floor of the house.
Before the arrival of the fire brigade, residents and PCR personnel rescued two injured persons and shifted them to Guru Gobind Hospital in Raghubir Nagar. Doctors at the hospital declared Jaspreet dead, the DFS officer said.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Further investigation is underway.
