Moderate rain likely in Delhi

Delhi woke up to cloudy skies on Friday, with the weather office predicting moderate to heavy rainfall.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms and rain.

Safdarjung, the city’s base station recorded a minimum temperature of 28.2 degrees Celsius, 2.6 degrees above the season’s normal,

Station-wise data showed that the minimum temperature at Palam was 25.5 degrees Celsius, 0.1 degrees above normal, while Lodhi Road recorded 27.6 degrees Celsius, 2.6 degrees above normal.

The Ridge recorded a minimum of 23.7 degrees Celsius, 0.5 degrees below normal, while Ayanagar recorded 27 degrees Celsius, 2.3 degrees above normal.

The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 32 degrees Celsius, while humidity was recorded at 75 per cent in the morning hours.

Delhi’s air quality index (AQI) stood at 74 at 9 am, placing it in the “satisfactory” category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board.

According to the CPCB’s AQI scale, a reading between 0 and 50 is considered “good”, 51-100 “satisfactory”, 101-200 “moderate”, 201-300 “poor”, 301-400 “very poor” and 401-500 “severe”.
