Moderate rain likely in Delhi

Delhi woke up to a relatively cooler morning on Monday as the minimum temperature settled at 26.8 degrees Celsius, 0.5 degrees below normal for this time of the year.

The city had recorded a minimum temperature of 31 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

The Palam weather station recorded a minimum of 26.4 degrees Celsius, a fall of 2.6 degrees from the previous day, while the minimum temperature at Lodhi Road was 27.4 degrees Celsius.

Ridge and Ayanagar recorded minimum temperatures of 25.2 degrees Celsius and 27.3 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The city received no rainfall between 8.30 am and 5.30 pm on Sunday, although Safdarjung recorded 5.8 mm of rain in the preceding 24 hours.

The maximum temperature at Safdarjung on Sunday was 38.3 degrees Celsius, 3.1 degrees above normal.

Delhi’s air quality was recorded in the ‘moderate’ category for the second day in a row with average air quality index (AQI) being clocked at 134, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

According to the CPCB, an AQI between 0 and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.

The weather office has predicted a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain for the day.
