The national capital woke up to pleasant weather on Saturday with the minimum temperature settling at 25.7 degrees Celsius, 0.8 notch below the season’s average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The forecast for the weekend suggests a generally cloudy sky accompanied by moderate rainfall, bringing relief from the prevailing humid conditions. The maximum temperature on Saturday is expected to hover around 33 degrees Celsius.

At 8:30 AM, the relative humidity was measured at 81 per cent, reflecting the sticky conditions that residents experienced in the morning hours. The IMD has predicted that similar weather is likely on Sunday as well, with spells of rain expected to provide respite from the warm and muggy atmosphere.

Delhi’s air quality, meanwhile, remained in the ‘satisfactory’ category on Saturday morning. At 10 AM, the Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 98, according to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data. As per CPCB’s classification, an AQI reading between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.

The previous day, the city had witnessed slightly warmer conditions. On Friday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 34.5 degrees Celsius, while the minimum settled at 26.2 degrees Celsius, both one notch below the season’s normal. The capital also received light rainfall, measuring 0.1 mm in the 24 hours ending Friday evening. Humidity levels during the day were reported at 80 per cent in the morning and 76 per cent in the evening.

Delhi’s air quality on Friday was marginally poorer compared to Saturday. The AQI had been recorded at 102 at 4 PM, placing it in the ‘moderate’ range. However, the showers expected over the weekend could help improve air quality further by reducing dust and other pollutants from the atmosphere.
