After Delhiites witnessed a pleasant morning today, with a partly cloudy sky and cool winds, they also found relief from the hot temperature that has been consistent lately.
According to the India Meteorological Department, Delhi received 13.4 mm rainfall from 8.30 am on Wednesday to 8.30 am on Thursday. Several Delhiites even took to social media to share pictures of a beautiful cloudy sky – a break from the raging heat in Delhi.
As a result, the city’s minimum temperature dropped a little below the average as it recorded a temperature of 24.2 degrees Celsius following the cool winds and rains.
The department has gone on to predict that there will be a cloudy sky with potential of moderate rains today. Maximum temperature for the city is possibly to be recorded around 30 degrees Celsius, said an IMD official to PTI.
On Wednesday, the maximum temperature had settled at 33.6 degrees Celsius. The weather office also stated that the relative humidity at 8.30 am was 89 per cent.
With no adequate rainfall in August, the monsoon activity in Delhi has remained below average expected records. The same goes for the neighbouring areas of Delhi in September so far.
Owing to a deficit in rainfall, Delhi has recorded above-normal maximum temperatures on most of the days in September.
Weather forecasters have stated that the influence of a well-marked low pressure area over northwest Madhya Pradesh and its neighbourhood was one of the factors to bring rain in Delhi and its surrounding areas in the next few days.
