ALMOST DROWNED: A handpump submerged in flood water in Majlis Park
The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday, was adjourned amidst chaos and protests against the AAP chief. The uproar was due to his government’s alleged mismanagement during the recent heavy rains and flooding in the city.
During the meeting, council members confronted Kejriwal on various issues, specifically focusing on the incidents related to the recent rains and floods in the national capital. NDMC Vice Chairman, Satish Upadhyay, stated that the meeting had to be postponed after questions were raised about the handling of the rain and flood situation in New Delhi.
Upadhyay emphasized that the council members have a rightful claim to demand answers and accountability from the chief minister for the betterment of the city and its residents. He pointed out concerns about the delay in holding the Apex meeting, which had a significant impact on exacerbating the rain and flood situation in Delhi.
The vice chairman also highlighted issues like the lack of timely desilting of drainage systems and the overflow of sewers in MCD areas, which led to flooding in various parts of NDMC, including VIP areas like Connaught Place, Bharti Nagar, Golf Link, and Lodhi Road.
Upadhyay accused Kejriwal of using abusive language against the Prime Minister and forming alliances with corrupt parties and leaders like Congress and RJD, vowing not to allow such politics in the New Delhi Municipal Council.
On the other hand, the AAP claimed that the chaos during the meeting was caused by BJP members led by Kuldeep Chahal, who prevented any agenda from being discussed, ultimately forcing Kejriwal to adjourn the meeting.
The AAP criticized the BJP members, accusing them of turning the NDMC meeting into a political battleground and prioritizing insults over the welfare of the people living in the NDMC area. They argued that the BJP raised unrelated issues during the meeting, such as women atrocities in Rajasthan, surgical strikes, and the “tukde gang,” which they deemed as irrelevant and a waste of valuable Council time.
In summary, the NDMC meeting chaired by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was adjourned due to the chaotic atmosphere created by the opposing parties, with both sides attributing the disruptions to different reasons.
