Non-plan admissions in classes 6-9 of Delhi govt schools for 2025-26 session to begin on April 1

The Directorate of Education (DoE) has announced that non-plan admissions for classes 6 to 9 in Delhi government schools for the 2025-26 academic session will commence on April 1 through an online registration system.

According to the guidelines issued on Wednesday, students currently enrolled under the non-standard organisation (NSO) category in government or aided schools are not eligible for this process. Instead, they must seek transfers or readmission through their current institutions.

The admission process will take place in three cycles. The first cycle will be conducted from April 1 to 8, the second from May 1 to 24, and the third from July 1 to 25.

Admissions for classes 6 and 7 will be conducted online for students promoted from classes 5 and 6, respectively. However, out-of-school children must register physically at the nearest school, provided they are between 10 and 13 years old. These students will undergo an assessment for foundational literacy and numeracy before final class placement.

For students with disabilities, the government has introduced an age relaxation of six months in the lower limit and four years in the upper limit, which will be granted by school heads.

In case of errors in applications, parents or guardians can delete and resubmit forms before the registration deadline. The deletion process will require OTP-based verification.

Once registered, applicants’ details will be accessible to the cluster in-charge of the nearest school. School allotments will be made based on available vacancies and infrastructure through an online system. If no school is available within a cluster, the district education officer will assign a school in a nearby cluster.

For class 9 admissions, if a student has not registered during any of the online cycles, parents or guardians can apply manually at the nearest school by August 5. The final admission list will be displayed on August 11, with the last date for admission set for August 31.

The DoE has specified the age criteria for each class. Applicants must be at least 10 years old but less than 12 as of March 31 to be eligible for admission in class 6. The age range is 11 to 13 years for class 7, 12 to 14 for class 8, and 13 to 15 for class 9.

In exceptional cases such as the death of a parent, prolonged illness, or trauma affecting a student’s education, additional age relaxations may be granted. Parents or guardians must submit relevant documents through the nearest school, which will forward the request to district authorities for approval.
