Over 60% of 1.45 cr Delhi voters provided SIR forms; 3.56 lakh digitised

More than 60 per cent of Delhi’s 1.45 crore electors have been provided enumeration forms under the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls, while over 3.56 lakh completed forms have been digitised, official data showed on Tuesday.

According to the cumulative status report issued on Tuesday, 88,22,402 enumeration forms have been distributed, covering 60.80 per cent of the capital’s 1,45,10,298 electors.

The number of digitised forms stood at 3,56,425, accounting for 2.46 per cent of the total electorate. The door-to-door enumeration drive began on June 30 and will continue till July 29.

Officials have said that the initial priority is to distribute enumeration forms to all the eligible voters, after which the collection and digitisation of the completed forms will gather pace.

According to the office of the Delhi Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), the highest number of forms has been distributed in the West district at 9,94,872, followed by South (9,19,849), East (9,41,182), North West (8,36,554) and South East (7,70,449).

In percentage terms, New Delhi district topped the list with 74.12 per cent of its electors covered, followed by Old Delhi (69.79 per cent), South (68.39 per cent), West (68.33 per cent) and North West (65.50 per cent).

South East recorded the lowest distribution percentage at 49.47 per cent, followed by South West (52.57 per cent), Central (53.83 per cent) and Outer North (56.96 per cent).

In terms of digitisation, South West led with 55,936 forms, followed by Outer North (50,993), West (43,821), Old Delhi (83,35), South (32,923) and North West (26,737).

Percentage-wise, Outer North recorded the highest digitisation rate at 6.13 per cent, followed by South West (4.21 per cent), Central North (3.21 per cent), West (3.01 per cent) and New Delhi (2.60 per cent).

The Central and East districts recorded the lowest digitisation rate at 1.33 per cent and 1.34 per cent, respectively, followed by Old Delhi (1.40 per cent) and North East (1.42 per cent).

Under the SIR exercise, booth-level officers (BLOs) are distributing two copies of the enumeration form to every elector. One copy is retained by the voter as acknowledgement, while the other is submitted to the BLO after being filled.

According to the Election Commission, voters can also submit their forms online.

The final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on October 7 after the completion of the revision exercise.
