Rain likely in Delhi, air quality ‘satisfactory’: IMD

Delhi is likely to receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms on Friday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its morning bulletin.

The city recorded a minimum temperature of 28.4 degrees Celsius, while the maximum is expected to hover around 37 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity stood at 75 per cent at 8.30 am.

Meanwhile, the air quality in the national capital remained in the ‘satisfactory’ category, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reading 72, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

On Thursday, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 36.9 degrees Celsius, which was 0.8 degree below the seasonal average, the IMD said. The minimum temperature settled at 27.7 degrees Celsius.

The relative humidity was measured at 61 per cent at 5.30 PM.

The weather department has again forecast rain accompanied by thunderstorms for Friday, with temperatures likely to range between 27 and 37 degrees Celsius.

At 4 pm on Thursday, the city’s AQI was recorded at 72, placing it in the ‘satisfactory’ category. According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’, and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.
