The Delhi Police issued a public advisory on Wednesday, discouraging individuals from visiting India Gate and Kartavya Path for leisure activities like walking, cycling, and picnicking during the upcoming G20 Summit. The high-profile event is scheduled to take place from September 9 to 10 at the recently constructed international convention and exhibition center, Bharat Mandapam, located in Pragati Maidan.

During a press conference, Special Commissioner of Police (Traffic), SS Yadav, emphasized that India Gate and Kartavya Path have been designated within the controlled zone for the G20 Summit. Therefore, the Delhi Police kindly requested people to refrain from visiting these areas for activities such as walking, cycling, or picnicking throughout the summit period.

Yadav further disclosed, “We have also made a request to the DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) to commence train services starting at 4 am in the morning to minimize inconvenience to the public.” In a letter addressed to the DMRC, Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora had urged them to initiate train operations at 4 am on September 8, 9, and 10 to facilitate the timely arrival of security personnel at their duty stations.

In response, Delhi Metro officials announced on Wednesday that train services would indeed commence at 4 am from terminal stations across all lines of the network during the three days of the summit.

Special Commissioner of Police Yadav added that while online deliveries of essential goods will be permitted, food delivery services will not be available in the New Delhi district during the event. He also stated, “Media personnel holding G20 passes will assemble at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium and will be shuttled to the venue. Media vehicles will not be granted access to New Delhi.”

Considering the anticipated traffic and heightened security measures, Yadav advised the public to utilize the navigation app ‘mapmyindia’ to facilitate their travel and reach their destinations efficiently.
