To make the upcoming Kanwar Yatra convenient and secure, Delhi Police has started a passenger registration system for the first time, which will start on 14 July. . According to the city police, having the details of passengers or a data bank of the devotees, will make it easier for the authorities to assist them whenever needed. Moreover, it will enable better coordination among the authorities and efficient facilitation for the pilgrimage.

The yatra participants can register themselves at kavad.delhipolice.gov.in. The Kanwar Yatra will commence on 14 July and end on 26 July, and is returning after a two-year hiatus following the Covid pandemic.

Delhi Police spokesperson Suman Nalwa stated that registration will help in identifying devotees in case of any mishaps. “We are aware of all sensitive incidents across India and are alert. We will ensure smooth arrangements and security during this holy ‘sawan’ month and Kanwar Yatra”, he said.

Earlier, the Delhi government had said that it would set up 175 camps for ‘kanwariyas’ (devotees of Lord Shiva) to ensure that they are not inconvenienced during the upcoming yatra.
