
The national capital is under heightened security measures for the 75th Republic Day celebrations, with over 70,000 personnel deployed across the city.
Traffic advisories and restrictions, particularly in central Delhi, aim to ensure smooth vehicle movement on Friday. Approximately 14,000 personnel are safeguarding Kartavya Path for the Republic Day parade, where 77,000 invitees, including French President Emmanuel Macron as the chief guest, are expected.
Special Commissioner of Police Dependra Pathak highlighted the coordinated efforts of security, traffic, and district units for the celebrations, emphasising preparedness for aerial threats.
Special Commissioner of Police Madhup Tiwari outlined security zones in New Delhi district and facilities like helpdesks and first-aid kiosks.
The parade, starting at 10: 30 am from Vijay Chowk, will follow a designated route with extensive traffic arrangements.
Traffic restrictions on Kartavya Path and surrounding areas will be in place from Thursday evening until the parade concludes.
Prohibitions on certain aerial platforms over Delhi extend until February 15.
Additionally, restrictions on heavy transport/light goods vehicles entering Delhi are in effect, allowing limited movement during specified hours.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation issued exit coupons for those with valid e-invitations or e-tickets attending the Republic Day ceremony at Kartavya Path. (With inputs from PTI)
