According to officials, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has constructed a “state-of-the-art Sainik Aram Grah” or transit facility for the Indian Army in the city’s cantonment region.

According to a statement from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, a piece of land was taken from the Indian Army near the famous monument Red Fort for the building of the heritage line back in 2014.

Authorities dubbed the section of the Violet Line that runs between Mandi House and Kashmere Gate station the “Heritage Line” since it passes through neighbourhoods with historic sites of national importance.

According to the terms of the land handover, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation was expected to build a “Sainik Aram Grah” at a site designated by the Army authorities, it stated.

In Delhi Cantonment, the Army finalised a plot of land for it there in 2019. As per the officials, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation began building the facility in February 2020 (after receiving clear land) and recently finished it.

The “Sainik Aram Grah” is a four-story (G+3) building and has one mess, four dormitories with 13 beds each, and 46 rooms with double-bed facilities. The internal furnishing and horticulture work has been done by the Army . According to the statement, this will benefit both active-duty and retired Army members as well as their dependents, particularly those who visit the base hospital for medical care.

On August 25, the GOC-in-C of Western Command officially opened the facility. At Khanpur, another comparable facility is reportedly being built.
